In our country, Muslims were discriminated by some of our countrymen because of their lifestyle such as their language and attitude. Actually, they were treated like that since almost bad news tackles about Muslim people like the last massacre in Maguindanao that shows Muslims against their co-Muslims. But do people judge them as a person? Or based on their religion?
My experience dealing with our Muslim brothers is truly good. As I interview some of them, they are so responsive and generous when speaking. As I ask about their practice that some misunderstood, one of them eagerly replied and said "They are just not aware about our religious activity that's why they give meanings to our practices." Those words form a mystery thus; Detective Perry is on the way to investigate.
To be knowledgeable about their practices, I conduct an interview with our Muslim Principal and a research for a support. And their words match as it was stated in their religious events which what they call the Five Pillars of Islam or Five Pillars of Faith. This is the term given to the five duties incumbent on every Sunni Muslim. These duties are Shahadah (profession of faith), Salah (prayers), Zakat (giving of alms), Sawm (fasting, specifically during Ramadan) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). The most common words we hear about their tradition is the Ramadan and about the Hajj. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natured; from dawn until sunset. Fasting is meant to teach the Muslim patience, modesty and spirituality. Ramadan is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God and to offer more prayer than usual. Meanwhile Hajj is a pilgrimage in Mecca. It is currently the largest annual pilgrimage in the world, and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to God (Allah in the Arabic language).
I've also find out that there are some good attitudes existed by the Muslims like being kind, being gentlemen by the guys, conservatives by the girls and very religious. Their faith is so amazing that they practice such sacrifices like Sawm just to prove their loyalty with their God.
As I finished this essay, I realize from their words and deeds that most of the Muslims doesn't dreamt to appreciate their religion but what they only want is to gain some respect as they respect others culture and tradition.

Why do Muslims hate Pigs?

My friends went to our house yesterday to ask some help about our assignment. It’s noontime then so I invite them to have some lunch in a Fast Food Store. As we open the container of the dishes our Muslim friend actively says “eeeewww!” I asked him “Why?” He replied erratically, “It’s because of the pork stake and I hate pigs!” I become conscious that why do they hate pigs much? This is a mystery so Detective Perry is on the way to investigate. According to our elders specifically the Muslim elders that they are unauthorized to eat pork because of the words of their “Qur’an” (Muslim’s bible). That when "Allah" purified the souls of the people, the demons that lived on their souls transfer to the pigs.

The Black Nazarene

I love to be updated with the news everyday. I'm watching television, reading newspapers or even listening to the radio just to seek information about news. But today January 8, 2010 I was amazed because most of the news tackles about the Quiapo Feast and its highlight is all about the Black Nazarene. I notice that many people give their own meaning about the Black Nazarene. I asked my parents if what is this all about, "Why is it black?" and "Is the rumors about the Nazarene is true or not?" but they only replied with a word "Mystery". Thus Detective Perry is on the way to investigate. According to the researches, they have two theories. The first theory says that it is black because of its wood that is naturally black and the second theory states that the Black Nazarene came from a boat that caught fire, turning it from its original white into black or charred complexion. That's why; people give its faith to the Black Nazarene as miraculous as it survived the fire accident. There are also rumors that as you touch the Black Nazarene you will be lucky and happy within the years. A mystery has been revealed by the "World of Mystery". Case Closed!
